Product Description

Get the most out of your passive dynamic or ribbon microphone with the phantom-powered R-DB20 signal booster and impedance buffer. Place the dBooster between any passive microphone and the input to your preamp, DAW, or audio interface and get up to 20dB of clean class-A signal boost. The dBooster shines when miking low volume sound sources like acoustic guitars, but it can also be used when capturing electric guitar or powerful singers. Simply set the boost switch down to 12dB and dial in the right amount of gain to make your preamps sing.Class-A circuitry means one component is responsible for amplifying the full waveform which produces low distortion and exceptional high-frequency response. This crystal clear gain allows the R-DB20 to drive signals over long cable lengths and through difficult loads like splitters or vintage preamps. The Class-A circuitry also provides a high source impedance to the microphone, so the signal arrives with low noise and exceptional headroom. All you hear is the source. On stage or in the studio, the R-DB20 delivers the source and nothing more.FeaturesSwitchable 12dB/20dB gainUltra-low noise, ultra-low distortionClass A input stageSafe for use on all ribbon micsWide frequency bandwidthRetains sound quality on long cable runsMaintains headroom and gain regardless of loadSafe for use on all ribbon micsIncreases headroom at the preampProvides true electrical isolationProtects ribbon mics from phantom-powerMinimizes mic loadingCapable of driving difficult loads such as mic splitters and vintage style preamps without increased distortion or loss of gainSpecificationsGain: 12dB or 20dB switchableTHD+N@ 20dB Gain = .0015%, -25dBu input signal, 1.3Vp-p output signal@ 12dB Gain = .001%, -6dBu input signal, 3.66Vp-p output signalIM Distortion@ 20dB setting,< .002% @ 800mV output,@ 12dB setting,< .005% @ 2.6volts outputSelf Noisereferred to -48dB re. 1V/Pa ,20dB setting< 11dBa,12dB setting< 15dBaHeadroomreferred to -48dB re. 1V/Pa and 4mV/Pa,20dB setting: 127dB,12dB setting: 120dBFrequency response: 20Hz-20kHz +/- .25dBInput impedance: 3.6K-OhmOutput impedance:(at 20dB setting) 300-OhmsCurrent draw: approximately 5mA at zero signal and 7.5mA at full outputI/O connections: Balanced XLR: (Pin 1 Ground, Pin 2 Signal Hot, Pin 3 Signal Cold)Power: 48-Volt phantomDimensions: 3.62” (92mm) L X 2.0” (51mm) W X 1.62” (41.3mm) WWeight: 6 oz (170g) Royer R-DB20 dBooster In-line Signal Booster.
